Design Equals Power

The Sims 4: Simlish Flavour

Capture

So as everybody who’s anybody in the gaming world knows by now, The Sims 4 has been announced for a some-time-in-2014-release. But I’m not here to talk about it!

Instead, I’m here to, for no reason, translate the Simlish on the new Sims 4 page at http://thesims.com/en_US/thesims4.

Please note that I decoded this using Sims 3 modder “inkandchaos”‘s font at http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=355657. I can’t really vouch for its credibility, apart from the fact that what I translated makes sense in a loose, web-designery way.

The Translated Text

Here is the directly translated text. You will find that it is mostly good old lorem ipsum, though there is some gibberish in there where perhaps a graphic designer has gotten a bit lazy before turning the text into Simlish.

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.
Sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore

* Duis aute irure dolor in reprehenderit in voluptata
* Mtyc, bojkdmgfs, hdfsfj, fjlfjjfldcvfjslfkjleipru
* Excepteur sint occaecat cupidatat non proidihnbvnncent

Numquam eius modi tempora incidunt ut laboguire
et dolore magnam aliquam quaerat voluptatem

The Poorly Translated To English Text

Although further translating this is almost entirely pointless, I did it anyway with Google Translate, so to someone who actually knows Latin (not me), this incomplete translation is probably horrific.

We will be sure to post a comment.
But because occasionally circumstances occur in which toil and pain can procure…

* Bullet train in pain pleasure…
* Mtyc, bojkdmgfs, hdfsfj, fjlfjjfldcvfjslfkjleipru… (gibberish)
* Excepteur sint occaecat cupidatat not proidihnbvnncent…

Never occur at all times of such a nature that they may laboguire
and pain ensue…

And there you have it! There seems to be nothing of worth in this Simlish flavour text at all, unless perhaps EA are planning to include pleasurably painful bullet trains in their next installment. And here I was hoping it was EA’s attempt at an Alternate Reality Game.

Hopefully The Sims 4 game itself will have a little more flavour than this flavour text when it eventually releases.

I play The Sims and I wasn’t even paying attention enough to hear about this announcement. I would care more about early clues for The Sims 4 if I weren’t certain that it would be overblown and misleading hype for an inevitably disappointing game.
